Threats to Castle Point

The following image (climatecentral.org), shows just how devastating climate change could be to Castle Point and local areas due to increasing flood levels:

    • Surface run off from increased precipitation
    • Rising sea levels- essentially removing Canvey Island from the map
Additional threats include:
  • Rising food costs due to agricultural threats
  • Human displacement both locally from Canvey and also wider afield
  • Wetter, warmer and more extreme weather
  • Social and political unrest
