Of these, more than a million were forced to leave their home for more than a month with about ½ a million never intending to return.
Of those displaced, about 2 million reported that they experienced some food and/or water shortages a month after the disaster. About ½ million reported that these shortages were severe.
Of those displaced about 2.5 million experienced some loss of electricity a month after the disaster, with 1.3 million reporting the loss was severe.
Of those displaced about 1.7 million experienced unsanitary conditions with 0.6 million reporting severe difficulty.
