Castle Point Climate Ambassador's Constitution

  Name and Objectives 
  1. The name of the group shall be Castle Point Climate Ambassadors Group 
       2. The group shall work mainly within the geographical area of Castle Point. 
       3. The group will liaise with people and organisations in neighbouring geographical areas where it is in the interests of             the group to do so. 
     
      4. The aims of the group are:
           • To work in a constructive, respectful and non-party political manner to raise awareness amongst people and                          organisations in Castle Point about climate change, its causes and consequences.
           • To encourage members of the public and organisations to make environmentally friendly changes to their lifestyles.
           • To help publicise the Castle Point Borough Council’s Climate Strategy and communicate their action plans and       
             achievements to the public.
           • To identify concerns about the local environment raised by members of the public and communicate them to the     
              Council.
           • To undertake research regarding the latest scientific evidence and initiatives and communicate these, along with
             recommendations for action, to the Council
 
       5. In order to achieve its aims the Group may:
           a. Raise money
           b. Open a bank account
           c. Organise or attend events
          d. Do media work
          e. Use social media and websites.
          f. Lobby elected representatives in a non=party political manner.
          g. Work with other groups and exchange information
          h. Do anything that is lawful which will help it to fulfil its aims
 
Membership 
       6. Full membership of the group is open to any person between the ages of 13 and 18 who supports the aims of the     
           group and has a significant link with Castle Point. 
       7. Anyone who does not qualify as a Full Member, either because they are outside of the age range or do not have a link
           with Castle Point, may join the group as an Associate Member. Anyone under the age of 13 wishing to join should be               accompanied by a parent or guardian.
       8. Full and Associate Membership is open to anyone without regard to gender, race, nationality, disability, sexual     
           preference, religion or belief.  
       9. Every Full and Associate member shall have a chance to share their opinion at meetings. Votes on key decisions will 
           be restricted to Full Members.  
      10. The group has the right and responsibility to admonish, suspend or expel a member who has brought the name of
             the group into disrepute, acted inappropriately, or been deemed to work against the aims of the group. Such a
             decision can only be made by decision at a quorate meeting of the group, after at least 14 days notice has been given 
             to all members.    

Management 
       11. Meetings shall be organised regularly and be held in accessible venues.    
       12. A meeting will be quorate if half of the full members are in attendance, either in person or virtually.       
       13. The group will manage members’ details in accordance with the latest General Data Protection Regulation.  
       14. The group will have one main point of contact and one or more group organisers and offer opportunities to all     
             members to take on specific roles.  
        15. The group can open a bank or building society account in the name of Castle Point Climate Ambassadors. It will
               have two signatories to the account, and at least two signatures shall be required on any transaction made from
               this account.  
         16. Any money obtained by the group shall be used only for the group.  

​Termination 
       17. The group shall be wound up by a vote at a General Meeting called for that purpose. Notice of intention to wind up
               the group must be sent to all members at least 14 days before any such meeting. At the meeting where it is decided                 to close the group, a decision shall also be taken as to what shall be done with any remaining funds.
