This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant contribution to the battle against Climate Change
YOUNG PERSON’S CLIMATE AMBASSADORS – ROLE DESCRIPTION
The Castle Point Borough Council and Essex Youth Service, working in partnership with the Castle Point Climate Action Group, wish to establish a group of enthusiastic volunteers, with an interest in the environment and a commitment to combatting climate change, to become Young Person’s Climate Ambassadors. The aim of the Young Person’s Climate Ambassadors will be to raise awareness amongst organisations and citizens of Castle Point regarding the urgent need to combat climate change and to support and encourage them to make changes to their lifestyle that will help achieve the goal of net zero carbon emissions. In the initial phase we are seeking to recruit a diverse group of 14 committed young people to form a “Steering Group” who will develop and organise plans on how best to communicate these messages. The role of the Steering Group will be:
To attend meetings of the Steering Group to formulate action plans to help deliver their aims.
To communicate with members of the public, of all ages, to provide information, guidance and support that will persuade them to make a commitment to change their lifestyle to have a positive impact on climate change.
To engage with young people in Castle Point to encourage them to join the Climate Ambassador scheme and support its action plans.
To work with stakeholders in the community such as schools, businesses, public services and other environmental groups
To undertake research on environmental issues that are of local and national importance and identify the latest scientific and technological developments.
To liaise with Councillors and Council Officers to inform them of the results of the research and to feedback comments and concerns from the public.
To be representatives of Castle Point Borough Council and act in a responsible, respectful and positive manner at all times, in accordance with their policies and procedures.
To make recommendations to the Council for appropriate actions to be included in their action plans.
