If, like many of us, you are fearful about what the world will be like after the pandemic and how we can deal with the climate crisis and economic collapse, you might like to register for the World Localisation Day webinar this coming Sunday June 21st at 8pm.
Many of us have, during lockdown, had the opportunity to enjoy our local community so it will be inteesting to hear public figures, grassroots organisations, internationally respected activists, filmmakers, economists, artists, mayors and citizens from every corner of the world giving their views on how we can move forward from globalisation to localisation to make a better, more sustainable, healthier, world for us all to share. https://bit.ly/2BnCvgx

The ever-increasing destruction of much of our carbon-absorbing green spaces together with the burning of fossil fuels plays the crucial role in our climate crisis so, of course, nurturing the natural environment is central to the work of CPCA group.
Getting in touch with and valuing nature is not only good for the planet but also helps our all-round wellbeing so we hope you might like to take part in the WildLife Trusts’ 30 Days Wild challenge. Individuals, families, schools and care homes are invited to …. ‘ join thousands of people taking part in our annual nature challenge, 30 Days Wild! We want you to do one wild thing a day throughout the whole month: for your health, wellbeing and for the planet. That’s 30 simple, fun and exciting Random Acts of Wildness.’ For more information and to register your interest see – wildlifetrusts.org/30DaysWild Unfortunately, like everyone else, we've had to put our activities on hold during lockdown so that even our launch event planned for last Saturday had to be postponed. Watch this space for the new date coming - we hope! - in the not-too-distant future. But, not daunted, we've been looking for ways we can all play our part in changing the way we think and live to help avert the climate crisis. Horrendous as it is there's no doubt that the lockdown has had numerous beneficial effects notably the decrease in carbon emissions and improvement in air quality. It's also given us time at CPCA to think about how we in Castle Point can use our skills and creativity to move us towards a better, more co-operative and more localised community. Details of projects we already have running and plans for the future are included on this website and we also hope you will visit our FB page. We had a reminder last week that in spite of the lockdown people are still working together (on line, of course!) to spread the message. The latest came from Climate Coalition - www.theclimatecoalition.org - who are a treasure trove of ideas on how we can all make a difference. They say: 'When we take small actions to tackle the climate crisis, they add up to make a big difference. Right now it might feel harder to take action - but there are many climate actions you can do from home.' Climate Coalition also reminded us that this coming Wednesday is Earth Day - www.earthday.org. - and they ask us all to display a green heart in our windows to show our love for the planet. They have a downloadable Green Heart on their website.
