Do we need a Community Allotment?

6/2/2022

The Castle Point Council has expressed an interest in allocating us a community allotment but it will no doubt take quite a lot of work in setting it up and then maintaining it.
So, before we go ahead to try to make it happen would you please let us know if you are interested in being part of this project?  It will be fun and will produce (we hope!) some nice food which will cut down on carbon emissions.  Also, of course, we won't be using chemicals so our produce will be organic.  A win-win really but it will also need a few of us willing to put in the work!
Please respond here if you want to be part of the team.

Good to have you join us Tracy. I've added your e-mail to our allotment group list so will keep you updated when we can get an allotment plot allocated to us. I'm a social media novice so might call on you for help occasionally cos I think you are probably good at it!

I’ll help! I’ve been thinking this would be a great idea. I love gardening and growing things and would be fabulous for our community.

Excellent Kelly! Be great to have you in the team. The council have tentatively said they'll find us a plot but we do need to make sure there's sufficient interest so it's good to hear from you. Will keep you informed when things happen

Would be more than happy to help set things up and maintain things. Not sure I have the time for my own plot but happy to help.

Great idea if it is near to me and would include raised planers for less able bodied who love gardening 👌

Good to hear from you Susan. As it is intended to be a community garden we need to make provision for everyone who is interested to take part. You'll be in from the start so will be able to advise on what less able-bodied people need to make the gardening accessible. You are now on our contacts list. Look forward to meeting you.
